General Donation
Make a general donation to the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada with either a one time payment, or provide ongoing support through a monthly gift.
Tribute – In Honour or in Memory
Make a donation to the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada that honours someone special or in memory of a dear one. You will have the option of directing us to send a card with your specific instructions. You can make either a onetime payment, or provide ongoing support through a monthly gift.
Planned Giving
Planned Giving is the process of designing charitable gifts so that the donor realizes philanthropic objectives while maximizing tax and other financial benefits. Any gift of significant size made with forethought about the benefit to the charity and the financial implications to the donor and the donor’s family is a planned gift.
Planned giving allows you to accomplish the following:
- optimize your gift’s long-term impact;
- give you greater tax benefits;
- control your personal financial security.
Planned gifts include the following contribution methods:
- immediate donations of cash or securities
- deferred gifts like bequests or life insurance.
Stock and securities
Gift of Publicly-Traded Securities and Mutual Funds to the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada
Current legislation in Canada has eliminated capital gains tax on gifts of publicly-traded securities, mutual funds and bonds to registered charities. When making this type of gift, you must transfer securities to the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada. The donation will not qualify for the capital gain exemption if the shares are sold first and the proceeds (cash) then given to the Foundation.
Advantages of gifts of securities:
- The donor makes an irrevocable gift and benefits from excellent tax incentives;
- The tax receipt reflect the value of the shares on the day of transfer to the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada;
- If a donor’s charitable credits exceed the standard 75% of net income, the donor may carry the excess tax credit forward for up to five years.
For further information on this legislation, please contact the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada.
