PFC Run/Walk for Research

Thanks to the efforts of Neil Pearson and his colleagues, the PFC Run-Walk was a huge success, not just because of the more than $6,500 that was raised (up from $5,000 in 2009) but because of the energy and enthusiasm displayed at 6 a.m. on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning in that most lovely of cities, St. John’s Newfoundland.

Awards

Congress is a time for celebrating achievement. PFC was delighted to be able to congratulate eight of this year’s crop of winners during the awards luncheon announcement. It was especially good to have George Tilley of the Heart and Stroke Foundation to shake the hands of Marianne Thornton and Revital Hacmon, this year’s recipients of the HSFC/PFC Scholarship in Physiotherapy Research.

PFC is delighted to announce that the judges at Congress 2010 selected Ange Capson from Queen’s University as the winner of the 2010 ACW Student Competition. Projects from across Canada were submitted, and an exceptionally high standard became evident.. Members of the Scientific Awards Committee selected three finalists to receive $1,500 each towards expenses involved in attending Congress in St. John’s Newfoundland. There was great excitement as the three gifted students explained their work to an attentive audience on Sunday morning. The judges deliberated, and Ange was selected as the winner, with her project entitled “The Role Of Lumbopelvic Posture In Pelvic Floor Muscle Activation And Intra-Vaginal Pressure Generation In Continent Women”. Congratulations, Ange!
