Physiotherapists promote good health by encouraging their clients or patients to improve and increase control over their own lives. There are more than 18,600 physiotherapists licensed to practice in Canada.

The Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) is the national voluntary professional association for physiotherapists. Established in 1920, CPA has more than 11,000 members represented by a national office in Toronto and branches in the ten provinces and the territories.

CPA's mission is to provide leadership and direction to the profession, foster excellence in education, practice and research and promote high standards of health in Canada. Physiotherapists who are members of CPA pledge to comply with the Association’s Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct.
